Boys Youth Lacrosse Opening Day Team 3 for Cohasset U13 opened it’s season with a convincing win over arch rival Scituate on Sunday. It took just 47 seconds for Patrick Holway to take the face-off, advance the ball down field, hit A.J. Kucinski at the crease with a pin point pass, with Kucinski tallying the days’s first goal. Both Kucinski and Holway would finish the day with 3 scores apiece with Holway adding a pair of assists. Martin Buckley also added a pair of assists to go along with his 2 goals while playing both middie and attack. Jack Donohue made a long drive to the cage past several defenders and drove home a score as well. With Sean Mavilia and Cal Robbins playing great ball control at the attack position, Cohasset found itself with the ball at Scituate’s defensive end of the field most of the game. Supporting the midfield as a defensive middie was Christian Kennedy who was tenacious on face-offs and grabbing ground balls as he took 13 for the day. J.P. Adams, Alec Norton. And Hayes Keniley also played strong at the midfield and kept Scituate out of scoring position. As good as the offense was, the defense was spectacular as Harry Seraikas, Mike Yerardi, Evan Canney, and Steven Iantosca were a stone wall as Scituate managed only 8 shots on goal the entire game. Splitting time in the cage were Wyatt Dominguez and Conor Naughton who together made 5 saves while allowing 3 goals. Cohasset U13 Team 1 Starts the Season Strong The Cohasset U13 Team 1 fell behind early by a score of 3-1 and then came charging back against a very big and physical Falmouth team. Falmouth started attacking the Cohasset cage early and often, until the defense of Jack Hoffman, Jack Osten and Max Fitzgerald began closing the door in front of goalie Brian Counihan. Counihan had a great game and made several outstanding saves and cleared the ball effectively. Once the Team 1 offense started rolling near the end of the first quarter, they could not be stopped. Dan Axelson, Curtis Golden, Ben Buckley, Sam Morris, and Matt Froio all scored at least once and moved the ball very well to find the open man. Richie Kinscherf and Charlie Krumsiek scored their first career goals, with the Krumsiek goal coming on a great feed from Luke O’Brien. Axelson did a nice job moving to defense in the final quarter and Cohasset pulled away for an 11-8 victory.
